10,000 Square Miles.
Houston, Texas, Sept. 12.?Reports
of loss of life and property damage
olhcr than at San Antonio as a result
of Friday night's deluge mounted

Calvert and Rryan, or approximately J
10,000 jiquure miles, felt the effect of

Thirteen persons, mostly tenants in
the lowlands, are known to be dead
with a possibility of this being increased

Property loss is regarded us almost

the loss of growing crops may run into
millions of dollars, while livestock
losses will account for hundreds of
thousands of dollars more.
Georgetown reports two persons
dead and three missing with property
damage of approximately half a million
dollars. Sixteen inches of rain in
24 hours sent all streams out of bounds ]
and cattle and cotton in the lowlands
