How the War Tax Works.?President
Wilson's income tax on his $75.000
salary will he $24,505 under the
new revenue hill introduced in the
house today. All other federal officials,
as well as those holding state
and municipal offices, who have been
exempt under previous laws, will he
called upon to pay under the new bill.
The president is entitled to an exemption
of $2,000 on account of be-ing
married. His income tax will be computed
as fellows.
Normal tax Six per cent on $4,600.
$240; 12 per cent on $50,000, $8,250
total normal tax, $8,520.
Supertax?Two per cent on $2,500,
$.70, 3 per cent on $2,500, $75; 7 per
< < nt on $5,000. $350; 10 per cent on
$5.000, $500; 15 per cent on $lu,ouu,
$1,500; 20 percent on $10,000. $2,000;
25 per c-ent on $10,000. $2,500; 32 per
rent on $10,000, $3,200, 38 per cent
on llo.OOO, $3,800; 42 percent on $5.000,
$2,100; total supertax $16,075.
