The situation in the Trinidad, Colorado coal fields during the past few wp'ks has been as important in a way as the Mexican situation. Some forty or fifty lives have been lost ir. conflicts between striking miners, guards, strike breakers and miltia and the trouble has not been nearly settled. Both the governor of Colorado and the miners have called upon the presi^ dent for Federal troops. The state troops do not like the idea of fighting the miners, and the miners themselves would rather not fight the state troops. President Wilson on yesterday, made a personal appeal to John D. Rockefeller, a large owner of the mines to do what he could to settle the trouble and Mr. Rockefeller turned the matter over to his son, John D. Jr. The president on yesterday sent LoiiKiraoman Martin D. Foster, chairman of the house committee on Mines and Mining to talk over the situation with John D. Jr., but John D. Jr., told him that he saw no way to arbitrate the matter. $ ? The Spartanburg jury in the case of Clyde Clement and Laura Fleda Pendleton on yesterday brought in a verdict of not guilty as to Laura Fleda Pendleton and guilty with a recommendation to mercy as to Clement. The jury was out only about two! hours. Miss Pendleton was released! w and Clement was taken back to jail. His sentence will be life imprison-1 ment. Pyrene Fire Extinguisher The Pyrene Fire Extinguisher is the most effective device that has ever been invented for extinguishing fire. It was perfected in 1907. A Pyrene Extinguisher is worth more than u well equipped fire department within five minutes after a lire starts?it will extinguish the lire and does no damage. There should be at least one in every dwelling and at least two in every store in Y o$K county. It is always ready for use, and you will always know where to find it, if you have one in your store or place of business, if you need it. The price of the Extinguisher is $7.50. I am prepared to allow 15 per cent reduction on insurance on all automobiles equipped with a Pyrene Extinguisher or ft per cent reduction on country stores that have two Pyrenes. I have a limited supply of Pyrene Extinguishers on hand and will be pleased to furnish any desired information about them. I am sole agent for this section, but owing to the fact that the profit to the agent is very small, I do not expect to mane a systematic canvass. You can get one or more by seeing me. You may never need one, but if you do and have not got it, you would gladly pay several times its cost to have the use of it. See me about it today. SAM M.
