SHARON NOTES Opening of tho School?First Bala of Cotton?No Now Depot Yet?Personal Mention. CMTOTpoodcBM Th? Torkvlll* Enquirer Sharon, Sept. 9.?The Sharon High school began Its annual session yesterday morning with eighty-one students on the roll and prospects of having the number increased to 100 before the end of the week. A number of patrons and others interested in the school attend?ho nnanlnir and short talks wara made to the children by Revs. EI B. Hunter and John A. McMurray, former Principal A. M. EJrwin and Prof. John B. Paysinger, the present principal. Prof. Paysinger is a graduate of the class of 1913 of Wofford college, and comes to take charge of the Sharon school highly recommended. He is assisted by Misses Winnie Crawford. Minnie Palmer and Wllmore Logan who have been on the faculty of the school during several years past. The first bale of the new crop of cotton was sold last Saturday by Sam Smith, a negro fanner who lives near Sharon. The cotton was bought by Mr. J. D. Hope at 12} cents. Up to this J morning there had been three bales I ginned here, and it is quite likely that before the end of the week the local ginneries will have plenty to do. No definite promise has been made the Sharon people in regard to the new depot which they are anxious to secure. As was mentioned in The Enquirer some time ago, the matter has been taken up with the Southern railway authorities and now rests with tham Miss Mattle Lucas of this place, suffered a stroke of paralysis yesterday morning and is in a critical condition. Mr. A. Hafner of the Blairsville neighborhood is in a critical condition at his home, the result of a general breakdown. Mr. Hafner is in his 93d year, and is one of the oldest citizens of York county. Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Gwlnn were hosts to a number of Sharon young folks at a lawn party last Friday evening. Those who were present report a delightful evening and much enjoyment of the occasion. The following were present: Mr. and Mrs. Sims Pratt, Misses Sara and Fanny Youngblood. Rebecca Saye, Marie Graves, Ella Lee ' Byers, Elsie and Bessie Horton, Lois Plexico, Peninnah Cain; Messrs. John Wylie, S. C. Hollofleld, David Byers, Fred Peninger, John Rainy Say, Clyde and Bratton Plexico, John Dickson, Haskel Sherer. Mr. Henry Mitchell of Rock Hill, vis ited relatives in this section last week. Mr. John C. Jones of Lancaster, is visiting Mr. Ernest Dowdle's family near Sharon. Rev. John A. McMurray of Guthriesvllle, spent yesterday in Sharon, the guest of Mr. A. M. Erwln's family. Miss Annie Caldwell left this morning to resume her studies at the Due West Woman's college. Miss Lizzie Love left Saturday afternoon for Ninety-Six, S. C., where she will again teach school. Mr. A. R. Smarr spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Smarr at Bullock's Creek. Mr. T. A. Gwinn Is very sick at his home near Sharon. NOTES FROM BETHEL Death of Mrs. John J. Robinson?Oak Ridgs Mooting Postponed?Personal Mention. OerreeseeSeeee The TorkrlUe Enquirer Clover, September 7.?This community was shocked last Saturday by the sudden death of Mrs. Jno. J. Robinson, which occurred at her home two and one half miles south of Bethel church. Mrs. Robinson was about 50 years of acre ami in her usual health until a few hours before her death which was oaused from apoplexy. She is survived by her husband and the following children: Mrs. H. L. Johnson. Lee, Rufus, Hattie, Janie and Frances. Also by an aged father, Mr. P. R. Currence of Qastonia, N. C., and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Emily Harper; Mrs. Lee Harper, Mrs. Silas Olenn, Mrs. Jno. Jones, Mr J. D. B. Currence, Mr. B. J. Currence, Mr. Jno. L. Cur-1 rence and Mr. Sylvesta Currence. The funeral services were conducted In the church at 12.30 oclock Sunday, by her pastor, Dr. Robt. Adams, and were attended by an unusually large gathering.
