REVOLUTION IN HONDURAS.
Long Threatened Disturbance Now At ?
the Point of Culmination.
Puerto Cortez. Honduras, Dec. 28.? ^
via New Orleans. Jan. 2.?The longexpected
revolt of the adherents of ?
Manuel Bonilla against the Davilla B
government in Honduras has broken j
out and a decisive battle is expected j
to be waged in the streets of this city J
.it-ithin the next few days. ?
The correspondent of the Associated j
Press is reliably informed that the y
revolutionary gunboat. Hornet, was J:
sighted off this port late last night i
and that preparations are being: made
for an attack upon Puerto Cortez by M
land and sea is believed certain.
Accurate information says there g
are somewhere in the neighborhood of M
300 Bonilla soldiers, well armed, on ^
the Montagua bar. in the disputed ter- j.
ritory between Honduras and Guate- jj
mala. Further south, along the Gua- M
temalan border, it is reported that the A
revolutionists. 500 strong, including M
many Americans, armed with modern \A
rifles, two field pieces and a plentiful n
supply of ammunition, are preparing e
for a march through Santa Barbara L
to Tegucigalpa, the capital. E
Another body of revolutionists are l
reported in the vicinity of Las Que- m
bradas, where a small engagement is m
said to have taken place yesterday. M
These soldiers, it is believed here, are
to be used in the attack upon Puerto T
Cortez.
There is a marked feeling of sus- M
pense in this city. From all indica- m
tions the government intends to make J.
a strong fight here. The small gar- G
rison has been increased within the
| past five days by the arrival of 500 b
' government troops and a small bat- L
tery of machine guns, but there is j(
grave doubt as to the loyalty of the H
troops. It is believed that the mere J.
presence here of Manuel Bonilla or A
General Lee Christmas will result in D
a generaL"turn over" and cause an al- M
liance of the government troops with T
the revolutionists. 'tt
Captain Davis, of the United States M
cruiser Tacoma now far out in the m
harbor, has stated that immediately tv
upon the outbreak of hostilities he E
will land a sufficient number of blue- s.
jackets to protect the lives of Ameri- J.
cans. Bi
A strict censorship is maintained m
and It is almost impossible to send a M
cablegram. J.
