market this morning; opened firm
and rather excited, the list establishing;
new high records on the crop.
First prices were 7 @11 points higher.
* Between firm cables from Liverpool
and a scare of the gulf storm, which is
scheduled to move northward rapidly,
sentiment was ver/ bullish.
There was a good demand for spot
cotton at the opening in Liverpool.
Prices were advanced 9 points to 7.05
t for middlings on sales of 10,000 bales,
of which 8,100 were American.
The long-talked of 13-cent level for
cotton was reached shortly after 2.30
o'clock this afternoon when May sold
at the price mentioned. There was a
slight reaction from tops levels in the
last hour, the market closing steady
