by Senator Hydrlck. A similar law is now In force in Virginia. ? Greenville News, Sunday: It was learned yesterday from good authority that the management of the Greenville and Knoxvllle Railway was securing labor to begin construction of the line from this city to Riverview. Hugh Prinoe, the president of the company, when seen would not confirm the report, but he did not deny that the company would be glad to secure all the labor possible: It is thought probable that work on the line will begin within the course of a week or ten days, and from that time on .it .will be rushed. The management has met with several unavoidable delays, but everything has been got in readiness for actual construction. The line will be something over thirty .miles in length when completed to the mountains, where it will tap the timber section of the country. It is the ultimate intention of the promoters to continue the line through the mountains to Knoxvllle, Tenn. ? The WaJker-Speegle controversy in Greenville county having gone to the general election, friends of Speegle * - * - O *? tm 11 m o ? in leiegrapnea 10 oeimiui * uiwan know what to do. The senator replied as follows: "Your telegram received. The action of the committee, right or wrong,, is final. All Democrats must bow to Its decision. If I lived In Greenville I should vote for Speegle, as fraud was charged and shown on both sides, the committee should have ordered another primary. Walker should . vote the ticket, and urge his friend* to do so, and appeal to the people hereafter to right his grievances. ?.The Democratic primary should be above suspicion, or the negro will come back into our politics, something we cannot afTord." Immediately upon receipt of the telegram, Speegle's friends got out a handbill headed, "Tillman says vote for Speegle" and had It distributed throughout the county. AT THE CHURCHES. Did it Ever ***& Occur to You ^ That we only live one day at a time? That only one man In five can get old line insurance, and while you may be one of the five who can get it this week, you may be one of the four who can't get it next week? That your breath and liabilities don't end at the same time? That a Life Insurance Policy is a will that no lawyer can set aside? That neighborly sympathy for the widow and children is good; but the Mutual Benefit's draft is better? That the most worthless assets ever found .n any man's estate are his good Intentions? That you don't mean that you will take the chances, but that you will let your family do so? That you may be one of the 97 out of every 100 who make a failure in life? That it takes a cyclone to lift the house off the farm, but that it frequently happens that it takes a Life Dnllnv llrt thA mnrtlMe? That I have been proclaiming in these columns for more than five years that the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company was the BEST and sold the BEST policy and that you have never yet talked with a man who had made a fair test of the claim but what he said the same thing? That It Is about time you were investigating in your own behalf? SAM M. GRIST, Special Agent. YORK FURNITURE CO., Successors to W. B. Moore & Co.
