Fall Goods. Our Fall and Winter stock of goods is coming in rapidly, and filling up our shelves and counters as never before. We wish to say just a few words about Staple Goods and prices. Last summer when we saw the inevitable rise that was coming in Staples, such as Sheetings, Shirtings, Outings, Alamances. Prints, Denims, etc., we began to buy and bought as long as we could get fhe goods at the prices that were then" ruling. ' We bought an i-n mense stock of goods and these goods are now on our counters. When it conies to prices this fall you will find here the same prices that ruled a year ago. This fact means that if you buy your Staples here, you will be sure to save from a half to two or three cents a yard on all kinds of Staple goods. If this saving Is of .any consequence to you you will know where to do your buying. SEWING MACHINE CONTEST. *-? At ?i In fha fames WHO axe icuviug |?>?. Sewing. Machipe contest will please take notice that this contest comes to an end on September 15th at 12 o'clock, noon. Only those votes that have been cast before 12 o'clock on that day will be counted. r*ot a vote can be cast after the town clock strikes 12, and It will be advisable if you have any cou- J pons to vote to do, so at once, so as to be sure that your votes will be counted. The leaders in the contest stand as follows today: Mrs. C. C. McMurray 353; Mrs. ,J. D. Land 142; Miss Wilma O'Farreil 302; Miss Lila Stowe 68; Miss Anna Faulkner 126. J. Q. WRAY, The Leader. A Car Load of Oliver Chilled Plows. IN order to meet the steadily increasing demand for Oliver. Chilled Plows, we recently placed an order for a whole ckr load to be shipped us direct from the factory, and take pleasure in informing the farmers of York county that we will in a few days be in position to supply their needs in this line. We will not' consume space and time telling of the superiority of these celebrated plows over all others, but will simply refer the farmer who has never tested them in a practical way to his neighbor who has. We are entirely satisfied to leave the decision with them. Hoosier Disk Drills. We have in stock a supply of the celebrated Hoosier Disk Drill, than which no better and very few that even claimed equality, has ever been on the market. We sell them on an absolute guarantee to give perfect satisfaction, and owing to the fact that we bought when mucn lower man uie present wholesale price are in position to sell drills about as cheap as other dealers can now buy inferior drills of other makes. You should not fail to sow wheat this fall. Next year may be the banner wheat year. .YORK IMPLEMENT CO. HEATH-ELLIOTT MULE CO. Livery, Sale and Feed Stables. There Are Some Things That we do not know, and there are a few things that we do know. Among the things that we know is that no concern in this section can sell you a better Buggy, Phaeton, Surrey or Harness for less money than we can and WILL. We have had long experience in the business and have the facilities for handling goods to the best advantage. We are familiar with the old adage that says "Talk is cheap," but we know by observation that unless a business concern is prepared to back its "talk" by acts, it had better not talk. We back our talk and ask that part of the vehicle buying public that wants full value for its money, to figure with us before closing a deal for anything on wheels. Summers Buggies Are the best on the market today, and we are sole agents for this section. We are anxious for the physicians of the county?the people who cannot afford to buy anything except the best?to see this buggy and get prices. We will put them against anybody's buggy for style, comfort and durability. We have cheaper work too, and back it with an Iron-Clad Warranty to be equal to anybody's work of a similar grade and better than most folks'. We handle the well known Tyson & Jones and Rock Hill Buggies. THE HEATH-ELLIOTT MULE CO., J. C. Elliott, Manager. Did It Ever Occur to YOU That it would be poor business policy, and in fact exceedingly dangerous, for me to make the unconditional claim from week to week in these columns that the Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Company of Newark, N. J., was absolutely the BEST life insurance company in the world and issued the BEST policy for the insured, unless f knew beyond a shadow of doubt that the statement was literally true and could be proven to the entire ? *nti'hn i<s SilUMat'UUll VI ci i iv iituivruuu. i< ??v ?w hunting for the BEST and will be convinced only by proven facts? Only last week I was offered a contract with a company that is recognized as being as good as any except the Mutual Benefit, at much better compensation. When 1 declined the representative said: "We would be mighty glad to have you with us, and I don't see why you decline to do so if you are in the business for the money you can get out of it." My reply was: "While I need money and your commission is larger, still I know that your company has not done as much for its policy holders and never will and does not issue as liberal contracts and at as low cost as the Mutual Benefit, and it is my hope that eventually all intelligent people will appreciate the fact that my claim that I represent the BEST company and sell the BEST policy is absolutely true, and when they do I will do the business. His reply was: "Of course all people who are posted know that the Mutual Benefit is the BEST company for the insured, and for that reason is not the best for the agent." Look before you leap! SAM M. FARM SEEDS. Every farmer is familiar with the advantages to be derived from sowing the best seeds and the disadvantages that arise from poor seed?poor crops, etc. We have on hand a select stock of Fresh Rye, Barley, Crimson Clover, Red Clover, Orchard Grass, and Lucerne or Alfalfa seeds. If planted now these seeds will make excellent pasturage for the early spring, and at the same time add much to the fertility of the soil for the crops that are to follow. There i3 nothing that so improves the farm lands as clover and lucerne or gives such immense returns as an earlv nasturaee. Alfalfa is called in Kansas the "crop that pays debts and lifts mortgages," and if it is profitable in Kansas, with its rigorous winter climate, it will prove more profitable in York county where climatic conditions are more favorable to its growth. Plant fresh seeds of the best varieties, such as we have, and your harvest will be profitable. JAS. M.
