m Card or Thanks.
To the many kind friends who so promptly
came to my help on last Monday evening, I respectfully
beg leave to tender my most sincere
thanks. It is to your intelligent and energetic
efforts that I am indebted for my narrow escape
from serious loss. Had the damage been ten
times as great as it really was, it would have been
doubly counterbalanced by your practical manifestations
of sympathy.

..."When The Robins West Again."
' Many people saw and read the advertisement
in this paper, about the house on which Longman
<fe Martinez' Paint had remained in good
condition for 14 years. None that we have talked
with about it doubt the truth of the assertion,
but say it is very remarkable. It is quite remarkable
and we are dispesed to think that the
affirmation could be true only of the Longman
<fc Martinez' Paint. We have on hand a big stock
of these goods and we trust that when the robins
nest again, and Nature puts on her vernal robes
and the trees their Spring bonnets, that with the
aid of these Paints many a faded, blackened or
unpainted house in this county will vie with the
Ola Dame in the beauty of their appearance.
Longman <fe Martinez' Paints sold in town only
by Kvykendal.

who has strong grip on all the details of his business,
and is not "deceitful on weights" will add
to his store. The Piedmont Beauty Tobacco,
from its honesty and purity, has gotten strong
grip on the palates of this ruminating generation,
which accounts for the daily increasing demand
for it. Sold in town only by Kuykendal.
Road Notice.
When the winter mud disappears and the roads
get in good condition," every owner of a carriage
or buggy is warned to come to the York Drug
Store and get a can of Carriage Paint. But one
coat required. No Varnish and no rubbing.
Any one can apply it. Price, $1.00. Sold only
at the York Drug Store.
Winbnrn Stands Head.
The customers of Winburn's Gallery say they
are getting the best pictures at the lowest prices
that they have ever had taken. This should induce
all who expect to have pictures taken, to do
so at once, as he will remain in Yorkville but
a short while longer.

YOTR WORD FOR IT.
Our Chill Cure is compounded on scientific
and rational principles. One of the ingredients
destroys the malarial germ that produces the
Chill and Fever, another acts on the liver, a disordered
state of which always accompanies this
disease, the others are tonic builders and blood
enrichers, restoring the wasted and rundown
system to vigorous health again. If taken according
to directions we think it will cure any
case of chills. Should it fail to do so in any case,
the price will be refunded and your word taken
as to the fact. Manufactured and sold only by
Kuykendal.
Positively the Last.
The firm of Peters Brothers, the celebrated
Razor makers, have failed and gone out of business,
but we still have a few?only a few, ot their
Razors left. They are positively the last we shall
have. No better Razors could be made than
were made by Peters Brothers. The advertiser
is using one of them, that ten times its weight in
silver could not buy. Secure one while opportunity
offers.

"OUR WOMEX IX THE WAR."
TWO or three years ago the publishers of the
Charleston Weekly News and Courier conceived
the idea that the women of the South
could, if they were given the opportunity, write
some interesting sketches of home life during
the war, and requested different ladies of several
of the Southern States, particularly Virginia,
South Carolinaand Georgia, to contribute articles
on the subject. The result was that SEVENTYNINE
sketches were published in the paper and
such great interest was manifested in them that
after the series had been completed the publishers
decided to issue them in book form. This
was done, and the result is a handsome volume
of 482 pages, printed on good white paper and
bound in cloth.
The book is one of unusual interest and should
be read by every one, especially those who experienced
the many trials and sufferings gone
through by the women and children of the South
during the war.
