Special Efffitts. 1.
A Card to the Pnblic.
The Clerk of Board of County Commissioners
having failed in the annual report, to put in foot
note in the Poor House account, (notwithstanding
his promise to a majority of the Board to do ;
so) dividing the poor house account into calendar
years, the undersigned deem it due to themselves
and the public to make a statement, upon their
own responsibility, which we herewith append:
To amount paid from November 1st, 1882, to
January 1st, 1883, two thousand and ten dollars
and fifty-one cents, ($2,010.51), which was con- !
traded bv the old Board.
To amount paid duringcalendaryear, 1883, contracted
by old board, to balance against estimated
amount necessary for balance of calendar
year, 1883.
RECAPITULATION.
To whole amount of poor house account (see
annual report) viz.: Four thousand one hundred
and eighty-seven dollars and five cents ($4,187.05).
To amount paid for calendar year 1883, two
* thousand one hundred and seventy-six dollars
and fifty-four cents ($2,176.54).
The only apology we can give me puonc iur
this intrusion, is that we cannot assume the responsibility
of spending over two thousand doli
lars ($2,000.00) of their money?the spending of 1
which we have nothing whatever to do with.
Very respectfully, R. T. Riggins,
E. L. Glenn.

Dikd?In Oktibbeha county, Miss., on the 28th
ot September, 188.% Mr. J. ERVINE MONTGOMERY,
aged 72years. Mr. Montgomery was
a native of York county, and moved to. Mississippi
in 1832.
NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC. I
I HAVE leased WRIGHT S FERRY for a new i
term, and in addition to the Wire Cable ex- J
tending above Crowder's creek, I have erected a
new IRON CABLE extending from the Charlotte
to the Yorkville landing below the creek,
with which to convey the ferry boats, thus rendering
it almost perfectly safe in crossing the
river, either during high waters or winds. The
new Cable is of the most approved kind in use,
with noiseless pulleys. I return my thanks to
the public for the generous patronage bestowed
upon me, at this place, for the past seven years,
and hope, by strict attention to business, to merit
a continuance of the same.
