"The Register scarcely needs any praise or commendation from us ; it is truly a leading paper of the State. It is always foremost iu the discussion of every question of importance which relates to the immediate and pressing demands o. tiie hour, and its voice is always heard debating them with a logic as convincing and irresistible as its language is ornate and free from the impurities of personality and invectivo. It is over true to the fundamental principles underlying our Democratic republican form of government, never hesitating to smite heartily and at once corruption, debauchery and demagoguery in either party. It upholds virtue and denounces vico. It is the friend of the constitutional immunities and privileges of the people and is ever stretching out for the furtherance of benevolent and charitable objects. IT IS A GRAND PAPER ami should have a generous suppor from the people throughout the State."?Ler ington Dispatch, April 2, 1880.
