Died?At his mother's residence, in Gastonia, N. C., on the 5th of October, 1879, of chronic inflammation of the bowels, Mr. BENJAMIN F. CHALK, aged 29 years. He was a resident of Charlotte, and a consistent member of the Baptist Church and the Young Men's Christian Association. He has a large number of friends in York county. Near Gastonia, on the 1st of October, 1879, of typhoid fever, Mr. JOSEPH L. DAVIS, aged 34 years and 1 month. LOST. ON one of the streets of Yorkville, on Saturday last, a JET CROSS, tipped with Gold. The Cross is about 2 H2i inches. A liberal reward will be paid for its delivery at this office.
