The Cotton Market.?This article in the European
market, during the past week, has shown
much steadiness, closing slightly lower. At New
York It has exhibited a weaker tendency, whileat
this port it has slightly fluctuated; and, while
prices did not change to'any Important extent, an
easier disposition has prevailed. In the foreign
market, middling uplands have been quoted at
lHdk per pound ; at New York, they opened at
254 and declined to 25 cents, and at this point tbey
commeuoed at 243 to 24} and fell off to 34 to 244
cento phi1 pound.' ? *
Corn.?The arrivals of this grain have been
small with a very restricted inquirv. We note
sales qf ,190$ -bushels prime whit# Maryland at
$i.29.per bushel, weights-bags included. Jobbing
lots of prime white are generally held at about
$1.35 per bushel, weight, bags included.
Flouil?Dealers have a full and well assorted
stock eg this article, far which there has prevailed
a moderate inquiry. We quote Northern and
western supei at \a> qu.okj per uunei; t*xua
$G.75 to 17.25 ; family to choice brands at $7.50 to
$9 iter barrel. Southern descriptions may be quoted
at$6,75 to.$7 Rer barrel for super: $7.25to$7,75
for extra/and $8 to, $10 per barrel for family to
choice brands.
BAcox.?The market is fairly supplied with this
article, and prices during the week nave been without
important change. The demand has been
moderate. we quote prime shoulders at 1GJ
eppts; prime clear rib sides at 20} oents; dry salted
shoulders at 14 cents, salted long clear at 18}
cents and strips 20 cents per pound.
Salt.?Several lots direct from Liverpool are oh
the port, but we learn of no wholesale transactions.
Jobbing lots, may be quoted at $1.75 per sack.
