Sards' Sabsapartt.t,a .?Although Scrofula is
generally inherited, yet it is possible for thoee ^
born with a perfectly sound constitution to be>
come Scrofulous, from living upon improper diet, _
exposing themselves to mephitio gases, or mala- H
ria; or from inactive digestion, all of whioh im- y
pair the vitality of the blood, rendering it thiok- it
ened, and inflamed, until eruptions break out d
upon the surfaoe of the body. In this exigency 1]
nothing is so efficacious as SANDS' SABSAPAR- H
TT.T.A to purify the blood, promote a healthy ?
circulation, strengthen the functional organs of
the stomach and effect a radical cure. ii
Prepared and sold by A. B. & D. SANDS,

OU1U ^
ville, S. C. Sold also by Druggists generally, j
It is a common observation that there are
more sufferers from debility, among Americans,
than can be found among any other civiliied na- "
tion. The reason is obvious. We take too little D
exercise, and forget the grants of the body in the
absorbing pursuits of business. In all such -
cases, ordinary medicines can do little good.? J
What is required Is just suoh a tonic and inrig ^
orator aa Dr. J. Hostetter has given to the world, w
in his CELEBRATED "BITTERS." The weak p
and nervous denizen of the counting-house, the p
exhausted tailor upon the shop-board, and the
prostrated student of the midnight lamp, have
found a wonderful regenerator in the "Bitters,"
and prefer it to more pretentious, but less effioacious
medicines. But it should not be forgotten
that the agent which is so magical in its inilu- j
ence upon a frame which is merely debilitated, (
is equally powerful in assisting nature to expel
the most terrible forms of disease. Who will [
not give it a trial ? (

ORDINARY.?The friends of JOHN B. o
JACKSON, Esq., respectfully announce him tl
as a Candidate for the office of ORDINARY. oi
April 8, 1859. 14 ly
TO THE
SOUTH AND SOUTHWE&Kj&jL
11STE, the undersigned, importers and
TT in,the City of Charleston, inview of the^sgy^w*
resent excited state of'the country, deem it
iroper to bring to the notice of the interior Merhants
the claim we bare to their patronage and
ustom. The majority of us have been long ee
abliahed in badness, and from our experience
re well acquainted with the wan^s of this secion
of coontry. AH of us hold sentiments in
ommon on the agitating question of the day?
lavery; and all of. na'dealre, as far as practicale,
to beoome commercially independent of the
forth. We have no desire to underrate the enrgy
and enterprise of the Merchants of Northrn
cities, bat we olaim to be able to sopply
oods in our respective lines, on as favorable
erms, both as to price and credit, as the merhants
of any city in the Union. We have facil:ies
for obtaining goods from Europe not suraesed
by any, and our importations from abroad
re very large, notwithstanding the reports to
ie contrary, circulated by those who have no
nowledge of what they affirm, or whoee interest
rompta them to mislead.
American goods we obtain from the manufacirers
on as favorable terms as any Jobbing Mar* ...
hants of the Northern oities. Why then should
e not be able to sell on as favorable terms as _
then?
We are able and determined to do so, and all
re ask of yon is, to try this market, lay aside
be prejudice?for it is only a prejudice?that
our customers prefer goods from New York to
bose from Charleston, and build up and encourge
your own Seaports and your own Merohante.
f we caunot do what we profess, yon will be
objected to very little inconvenience, for opporunities
of leaving by railway or steamer are oftred
every twelve hoars.
Oar Stocks will be complete by 1st February
ext, and it remains to be seen how many of those
rho have heretofore purchased all their goods
3 northern cities will give Charleston a trial
bis Spring.
