Resolved, 1st That we, the citizens of Ebenezerville

Vigilance Committee.
Resolved, 2d. That the Vigilance Committee

Committee give notice immediately, respecting
any individual whose conduct is suspicious, i
Resolved, 4th. That the whole Committee be divided

light sales, at prices rather easier than those reported
last week. We quote extremes from 7$ to

Flour.?We notice but little change in prices
since last week. There is a good supply in dealers
hands, with a limited demand. We quote $2

Corn.?In this article, we notice sales at lower
rates. We now quote extremes, 80 to 85 cents.
Dr. Hostetter's Bitters have received the
warmest enconiums from the press and people
throughout the Union. As a valuable tonic for
the cure of Dyspepsia. Flatulence, Constipation
and general nervous debility, it cannot be approached.
Every day new cases of its great effect
are chronicled through our public journals.
There is nothing equal to the enjoyment, to that
which the afflicted experience when using this valuable
specific. Its mild tone, its sure and vigorous
action upon a disordered stomach, and the
cleansing of the entire hunan body, should recommend
it to all classes of our community. All
that will bo necessary to convince tie skeptical
of its healthy effects, is to purchase a bottle and
be convinced.

Died?On Wednesday the 14th inst., at McConnellsville,
after a short but painful illness,
Mr. REUBEN McCONNELL in the 61st year of
his age.
He was a kind hearted and oenevolent man.?
Hospitality was a part of his nature. In all the
relations of life?as a friend, parent, husband
and master -he was good, just and true. When
the tomb closed upon his body, it did not spread
the pall of darkness over his name. His virtues
will live long in the hearts of those left behind.
He left an affectionate wife and three sons to
mourn his loss. But their sorrow is not without
the balm of consolation. While they weep, their
tears are made sweet by the remembrance that
he was a good neighbor, a steadfast friend, and an
affectionate husband and parent. "The Lord
gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be
the name of the Lord."
In Yorkville, on the 16th inst., JULIA, youngest
child of Col S. N. and Mrs. M. M. Stowe, aged
14 months and 15 days.
This child-angel suffered from a complication
of causes for several weeks. Through all this
time it was watched over with unceasing atten- J
tion and tenderness. The mother smoothed its j
little pillow, or nursed it on her softer lap ; the I
physician summoned his utmost skill; and friends
stood round with anxious faces. Oh ! how pre- j
cious is a mother's love ! But death cares not j
for the sobs and sighs of the grief-strickeu.
There is a sweet consolation in the thought that .
little Julia is now a smiling cherub in heaven.? j
She will be ever sinless and pure as the dew on
the amaranths by the River of Life.
"Weep not for those whom the veil of the tomb.
In life's happy morning, hath hid from our eyes,
Ere sin threw a blight o'er the spirit's young bloom.
Or earth had profaned what was born for the skies."

TO THE MERCHANTS

SOUTH AND SOUTHWEST. 1
WE, the undersigned, importers and Jobbers '
in the City of Charleston, in view of the
present excited state of the country, deem it
proper to bring to the notice of the interior Merchants
the claim we have to their patronage and
custom. The majority of us have been long es- tablished
in business, and from our experience *
are well acquainted with the wants of this section
of country. All of us hold sentiments in 1
common on the agitating question of the day?
slavery; and all of us desire, as far as praotioablo,
to become commercially independent of the
North. We have no desire to underrate the enorgy
and enterprise of the Merchants of Northern
cities, but we claim to be able to supply (
goods in onr respective lines, on as favotable ,
terms, both as to prico and credit, as the rner- '
chants of any city in the Union. We have f acil - '
ities for obtaining goods from Europe not surpassed
by any, and our importations from abroad <
are very large, notwithstanding the reports to

prompts them to mislead.
American goods we obtain from the manufac- .
turers on as favorable terms as any Jobbing Mer- ]
chants of the Northern cities. Why then should i
we not be able to sell on as favorable terms as (
others ? . <
We are able and determined to do so, and all 1
we ask of you is, to try this market, lay aside '
the prejudiotf?for it is only a prejudioe?that I
yonr customers prefer goods from New York to i
those from Charleston, and build up and enconr- 1
