Cotton.?It will be remembered that our Cotton
Market of last week closed firm at from 9* to 10
80. These prices were maintained for several
days, but owing to the depression in the larger
markets, prices receded here. With a steady decline
from day to day, the figures have been lowered
a half cent from the highest point at the
first of the week. Although prices continued to
decline, the farmers showed no disposition to hold
off, but became anxious sellers at the ruling rates.
The sales of the week amouut to about 400 bales
at from 9* to 10 80?the market closing quiet at
from 9 to 10 30, extremes.
Qrocmet remain steady, with pretty good business
doing. We note the arrival of new crop New
Orleans Molasses and Sugars?quality very fine.
For prices we refer to tables.
