body wis coffined, was here removed, and the remains
placed in the centre of the Chamber.
Daring the hoar they lay in state, the Chamber
was visited by hundreds of our citizens, anxious
to testily, even by this unsatisfactory demonstration,
their respect for the memory of the lamented
dead. At half-past four o'clock the remains
wore removed, and placed in a hearse, drawn by
fonr horses, whioh had been obtained from Char~
leston to convey them from this city to Edgfield
Court House. The procession was then formed
uuder the direction of Col. J. B. Campbell, of the
Augusta Volunteer Battalion, and preceded by a
band of music, playiug au appropriate dirge, escorted
the remains through the principal streets
of the e'rty to Hamburg. In this long funeral cortege
were the Clinch Rifles, Oglethorpe Infantry,
Irish Volunteers, Washington Artillery, Richmond
Hussars, the Fire Company of the town of Hamburg,
the Fire Companies of this city and the
Hook and Ladder Company, acting as the escort,
whilst following the hearse, were the members of
the Committee of Angusta and Edgefield District,
in carriages, the Professors and Students of the
Medical College, and a large number of citizens.
The st?-eets through which the procession moved

impressive and imposing display.

Yorkville Cotton Market.
reported by b. c. il. alexander.
The market has been more active during the
past week demand brisk and a good quantity offering.
Prices now range from 10 to 12.40; but a
choice article would be sure to command a shade
higher, v.

Cotton. In the early part of the week just terminated,
and up to Wednesday evening, the cotton
market presented no new feature, nor was
there any quotable change in prices from those
fiven in our last report, viz : 10f@12$. During
hursday, Friday and Saturday, however, there
was a better feeling in the market, at an advance
of ?c. on all qualities above middling. We are
still without Inter advices from Europe which
aro now past due and anxiously looked for and
until they come to hand there cannot be any very
material change in the market. The sules of the
week foot up 1,025 bales ; and we now quote inferior,

Bacon.?The bacon market has been quiet but
steady since oar last report, and we, therefore,
continue to quote?for prime old shoulders, 9 cents;
clear sides, 11 J ; new hog round, U@lll.
Corn.?The stock of corn is light, and prices
are very firm at 90 cents ^ bushel.
Oats.?We have no change to notice in the price
of oats, and, consequently, we continue to quote
6o@68 cents bushel.
Flour.?There is a fair stock of flour on the
market, and, as the demand is quiet but steady,
there is, therefore, no quotable change in prices.
We quote $7.50@$7.75 for common to good brands;
superfine $8.00, and extra family flour $8.50
bbl.
Fodder.?There was a fair supply of fodder on
the market during the past week, but as there was
no qnotable change in prices, we still continue to
quote $1.2o@$1.621 100 lbs., according to
quality.
