THIS ESTABLISHMENT continues opeu for
the reception of the travelling public. It is
located beyond the noise and bustle of the Court

as a FIRST CLASS HOTEL, its admirable
situation with regard to coolness and quietness;
its elevated positiou, from which the finest mountain
views may be enjoyed, and to which the
mountain breezes fresh and unobstructed have
access, are too well known to require further commendation.
The proprietor has added to its comforts
and conveniences, and he trusts to merit and
hopes to receive a continuation of the public patronage
which he has hitherto enjoyed.

TO THE CITIZENS OF YORK
DISTRICT AND VICINITY.
I WOULD call your attention to my new preparation,
known as "BLISS' DYSPECTIC REMEDY."
This medicine is a new medical compound,
and is the result of long practice, extensive observation,
and close study of all diseases having
their origin in a disordered state of stomach, and
adapted to every stage of these diseases, from
their incipient symptoms to those in which they
have assumed a Chronic form ; and although but
yet in its iufancy, has gained a notoriety and reputation
very seldom attained by any "patent" preparation.
This Remedy is no quack nostrum, got
up to gull the people, and fleece them out of their
money, but a medicine, which, together with the^
treatment prescribed to accompany the taking of
the medicine, has the sanction of years of successful
application in private practice, and will not
fail to cure the most stubborn case of Dyspepsia,
no matter of hqw long standing, or how severe it
may be, providing the directions are closely followed
out. It was not suddenly hit upon, nor
dreamed of, but is the accretion of facts and experiments
collected in the daily rounds of duty as
a practising Physician, and is given to the public
in a popular form, in the hope, as in the belief,
that it will not fail in giving relief to the
anfferf r from DranAnsia and all other diseases
having their origin in the stomach, in any instance
when the directions are properly attended to. It
has received the highest encomiums from the first
physicians throughout the North and South?it
has been tried, recommended and certified to by
some of the most eminent jurists and statesmen in
the country, all of which shall appear in due time.
Physicians of large practice are now using it and
relying upon it alone in these diseases in their
practice, aud recommend it to their friends as
worthy their best confidence.
It is entirely dissimilar to any and every preparation
of the kind now before the people. The
originator, entertaining views and opinions somewhat
at variance with the prescribed notions among
medical men generally, a? regards the nature
of these diseases, has in this preparation
brought together medical agents of kuown utility
and worth, iu the form of a new combination, making
a compound altogether and entirely new, and
one that will not fail in affecting a cure, if directions
are followed and persevered in. The undersigned
is well aware that the same encouragement has
been given, and the same promises made, over and
aud over again, by manufacturers of patent medicines.
as regards their different preparations, and
as voucher for the curative qualities of this preparation,
aud for the purpose also of giving additional
weight to whatever he may say as regards
this new preparation, he would beg to refer to the
fact, that he is the originator, manufacturer and
proprietor of the well known "Jacob's Cordial,"
the curative properties of which in Cholera, Dysentery
and Diarrhea, are now being proclaimed
by thousands in every section of the country, and
as being all that he ever said of it.
The undersigned does not profess to be a philanthropist,
or thut he i3 uninfluenced by considerations
of pecuniary profit in placing the Remedy
before the people, but he dors know that while lie ^
may be realizing a pecuniary profit, fellow-sufferers
will realize that which is of more worth to
them than the wealth of India.
Dyspepsia, like Gout, may be said to be a fash
lonaoie disease ; 11 more reauuy mini any omer,
in various of its forms, and to a greater extent,
find its victims iu the wealthy and aristocratic
circles, especially iu large cities, and its insidious
workings are often the real, though undiscovered
cause of the sallow cheek, the dull, heavy eyes,
and general inertia?indisposition to either mental
or physical effort, which are erroneously attributed
to other causes.
Scenes of luxurious ease are not, however, alone
the haunts of this destroyer of the health and enjoyment
of myriads of mankind. Other conditions
of life there are in which it revels over faded and
emaciated forms, and dispirited and despairing
hearts. The sedentary labors of the countinghouse,
and the study, not less than the intense excitement
and irregularities of busier occupations
of mercantile life, are promotive of it: each daily
adding to the number of its subjects. But our
(that is the physician and his patients) object is
not, having once discovered the disease, so much
to trace it back to its source, as to remove it from
where we find it, and to establish a healthful and
vigorous action of the various organs, by use of
the proper agencies, and to restore to their natural
functions these organs which had been perverted
by disease. For all
NERVOUS SUFFERERS,
This preparation, with its accompanying directions
for treatment, are peculiarly applicable ; and
if the former is taken and the latter closely complied
with it will not fail of curing.
Also, to those suffering from DISEASE OF THE
LIVER, it is particularly recommended, and most
admirably adapted. Iu WEAK AND DEBILITATED
SYSTEMS, it will he found as possessing
tonic properties to a pre-eminent degree, and
very admirably adapted to a large portion of the
female sex, whose debilitated and worn out constitutions
require an artificial restorer.
1.. !.!? U mft t
be looked for at once. It will begin to relieve,
and the patient will know that recovery has com
mcnced within forty-eight or seventy-two hours,
or, nt farthest, by the time he has taken the contents
of one package. To those trying the effect
of this Remedy, I would proposed a test that will
demonstrate to the patient that he is being benefitted.
If it is used in a case of Dyspepsia, where pain
or other distressing feelings attend the taking of
food upon the stomach, I suggest that the patient,
after using the Remedy for three or four days, and
following closely the other directions, partake of
some articles of food which he had known previously
to disagree with him, and he will discover
that it no longer produces the disagreeable effect.
Sufferers from Dyspepsia, nervous sufferers, invalids
from disease of the Liver, and from broken, ,
worn out and debilitated constitutions, try one
package ; follow out closely all the accompanying
directions, and prove the truth or falsity of what
I have said of the Remedy. 1 wuuld, however,
remark, that unless you determine to take the
medicine and follow out all directions as given, I
prefer you would let it alone entirely, and not buy
it; preferring much rather to go without your
money than have you take it without deriving
benefit. W. W. RL1SS,
No. 303 Broadway New York.
RLISS' DYSPEPTIC REMEDY is put up in

for mixing it in liquid form before taking.?
Each package contains sufficient of the powder for
a pint of mixture. Retail price S2. For sale in

COTTON SAW GINS.
Straight Ribs, vs. Crooked, Uniformity of
Roll, &c.
4 LTHOUGIl the advantage of the straight rib
/V in the COTTON GIN has been discovered for
more titan twenty years, yet it has not been sufficiently
known or appreciated l?y the planter. The
advantage consists simply in this: that the ribs,
when worn, can be moved down to where they are
not worn' which answers the purpose of a new
sett of ribs. Three moves can he made, which
gives four wearings, which is equal to four setts of
ribs. So that a purchaser having iu. view prospective
expense, would lose the price of three setts
of ribs if the ribs of. bis gin were not moveable.
Any planter with common intelligence can move
the straight ribs himself, and thus obtain all the
benefit of a new sett of ribs.
The greatest uniformity can be obtained in the
roll by giving the ribs the proper angle, the effect
of which is, to throw the weight of the roll more j
upon the saws than upon the seed hoard, and by i
adjusting the seed-hbard so as to prevent the seed |
when once detached from re-uniting with the roll;
this improvement has been made by the subscriber
witliin n few months.
With regard to fast picking gin?, the greatest
amount of lint is obtained iu two ways. First, by
having long teeth lying as nearly parallel to the
verge of the saw as possible, so that the teeth entering
the ribs so much point foremost they are
obliged to carry nil the crftlon through that they
get hold of. A fifty saw gin with these sort of
teeth on a nine inch saw lifts gined eight hales petday.
The second plan is, to form the breast so
that the teeth meets the ribs nearly at right angles,
and thus packs the cotton into the teeth of the
saws. This pins is very straining on the saws,
ami causes a much heavier draught. Whether the
cotton is injured by an oiusrwrnuglit 'speed, the
planters must judge for themselves. The subscriber
will furnish to the planters of this and adjoining
Districts Cotton Oitis equal in durable value
to any in the country. Delivered at Cluster, Vork,
or Charlotte, or any landing on the mad for $2
per saw. The brushes of my gins are covered with
tin : which adds much to their strength and durability.
All orders promptly attended to.
