The Athens, Georgia, Banner, of a recent date, has the following paragraph announcing the death of one of the warriors at King's Mountain:? 41 Mr. John Duncan, a Revolutionary soldier, died in Jackson County, on the 8th inst. He was born in Randolph county, North Carolina, on 27th of1 April. 1764. He- lias been a resident of Jackson county for sixty years, and was universally beloved and esteemed by all who knew him. He was an active participant in the stirring scenes of the war of Independence, and was present at the battle of King's Mountain." Later from Port Ac Prince.?New^York, Jan. 20.?Advices have beep received here from Port au Prince to the 29th December. They bring rumors of P an engagement between the Haytiens and Dominicans, the former sustaining a heavy loss of provisions and ammunition. It is rumored that great dissatisfaction exists among the Emperor's troops. Many, it is said, are revolting. ?{jt Utarlufs. Yorkville Markets.?Wholesale Prices. January 23. Cotton.?Owing to the severe weather nothing has been done in this as well as other wagon trade for the past ten days. IVe are therefore unable to report any transactions. The latest news from Liverpool quotes cotton drooping, which would tend to put the article down here. We quote, however, from 71 to 8?. "Flour.?The demand continues good at the following rates: For sacks, $3.50@$3.75: for barrels, from $8 to ?8.25. Grain.?The demand for all kinds of grain is buoyant at the following rates: Wheat $1.50; Peas 02}: Corn 00; Oats 37}. Columbia Market. k January 21. y Cotton.?When we closed our inquiries before making our previous report, a fair and steady demand prevailed for the article, at prices ranging from 8? 9}c. Daring the early partof the week just brought to a close the same good feeling prevailed, at unchanged prices. On Wednesday the market dragged somewhat heavily, and prices turned 1-16? J in favor of buyers. On Thursday and Friday the demand, although not dull, was rather less active, yet without any quotable change iu the general ruling rates. On Saturday the news from Liverpool by the America came to hand, reporting sales of 24,000 bales, at a decline of ?d on former quotations. These accounts had no quotable effect on our market, partly from the fact of there being only a very limited supply of the article, and also from the fact of there being no change in the New York market. The sales of the week comprise 600 bales, and we now quote: Inferior 8?8J; ordinary 8??8i: middling 8??8$; good middling 8jj ; and fair 9Jc. Bacon.?The supply of this article on the market has materially increased, and prices are drooping. We now quote 12?12i for hog round ; sides 12?. 12 J ; and hams 12A?13, according to quality. Corn.?The corn market has been somewhat dull during the week, and prices are a shade lower. We now quote 80@85c bushel. Oatt.?We have no quotable change to notice in tho price of oats, and we therefore continue to quote 59?60c "i? bushel. Peas.?There is a good demand for peas, and conf sequently prices are firm at 75?80c ^ bushel. Flour. The demand for this article Is steady and good, with a full supply on sale. We still quote S8J ?$8 J for common to good brands ; fine family flour $9@$9J "jjl bbl.
