jail he was identified as Daniel
Fort, who was arrested in Winns

a horse in Marlboro county. He
wia afterwards carried to Marlboro,
tried for horsec-stealing, convicted,
and sentenced by Judge Townsend
to) eight years' imprisonment in tihe
penfitentiary. He escaped on tihe
7th inst., while the gusard, as he
alleges, 'was aisleep. He was return
ed to his old quarters by SherifT
