Bad Death, We regret most deeply being called upon to chronicle the death of little MJattie, child of Captain and Mrs. W. M. Dwight. Hor malady was that fatal disease, Diptheria, from which she suffered several days before being translated to the angelic regions above. We tender our warmest sympathy to the bereaved parents, end trust they may receivo Heavenly consolation in their heart-rending affliction. Resistine the Police. On Tuesday a negro man .raised a row in the street, greatly to the an noyance of passers-by, the polico was called and went to arrest him but the negro resisted. The police called to his assistanoe some by-standers, and the negro was looked up. Just after he was put in the guard house a party of his friends assembled around the guard house door and threatened to take the prisoner out by force. This threat brought to the spot several whites, who wore prepared for the on set, but the negroes declined to go any farther. We advise the colored pee. pie to desist from such threats, as they 'will bring on disturbances that will be serious in the end. If they come to town and raise disturbances they will be put up without doubt. Or sb^^^^^ The horse malady is in Columbia..
