mast the distverj= This derangement
WrodumO defiefit nutri oh end salmilatlon. By
assimiason I nmean that pross by which the nu.
igment of the flod is convetted Into blood, and
thence into the solids of the body. Persons with
digestion thus impaired, having the sltghtest pre
disposition to pulmonary disease, or if they take
cold, will be very liable to have Consumption of
the Lunge in some of its ibrms: and I hold that it
will be impossible to cure any case of Consumption
without frst restoring a good digestion and healthy
aslimilation. The very first thing to be done Is to
cleanse the stomach and bowels from all diseased
Ulucus and slints, which is clogging these orieins so
that they cannot perfbrin their functions. and then
rouse up and restore the liver to n Lealthy action.
For this purpose the surest and best remedy is
Schenck's Mandrake Pills. These Pill, clean the
stomach and bowels of all the dead and morbid
slime that is catnsigdisease and decay in the whole
system. They wilt clear out the liver of all diseased
bile that has accumulated there, and rouse it up to
a new and healthy action, by which natural and
healthy bile is seereted.
The stomach, bowels, and liver are thus cleansed
by the use of Schenck's Mandrake Pills; but there
remains in the stomach an excess of acid. the
organ is torpid and the appetite poor. In the bow
els tie lacteals are weak, and requiring strength
and eupport. It, is in a condition like this that
Sohenek's Seaweed Tonic proves to be the most
valuable remedy ever discovered. It is alkaline,
and its use will neutralize all excess of acid, mak
ing the stomach sweet and fresh. it will give per.
toanent tone to this important organ, and create
A good, hearty appetite, and prepare the system
for the first process of a grood digestion, and
ultimately make good, healthy, living blood.
After this preparatory treatment, what remains
to cure most caaes of Consumption is the free
and persevering use of Schenok's Polmonlo Syrup.
The Pulmonlo Syrtp nourishes the system, puri
tes the blood, end is readily absorbed into the
retlation, and thenco distributed to the diseased
um. Th reitripensal, i1orbid matters, whether
n The fbrm of. abscesses or tubercles, and then
Assists Natue to expel all the diseased matter, in
he form of expectoration, when once it ripen.
is then, by the geat healing and purifng
ropertieb of Behenok's Pulmnnio Syrup, th. all
lcers and cavities are healed up sound, and my
piatteut Is cured.
The essential thing to be done in curing Con.
sumption is to get up a good appetite and a good
digetion, so that the body will grow in flesh and
get stron . If a person has diseased lun -1
cavity or a~scess there.-the cavity cannot heat the
matter cannot ripen, so long an the system Is below
ar. What is necessary to cure is a new order of
hIng",-& ood appetite. a good nutrition, the hod
to grow infleh and get fat; then Nature is helli,
the cavitles will heal, the matter will ripen and be
thrown off In large quantities, and the person
regain htalth, anld strongth. This is the true and
only plan to cute Consumption, and it a person Is
very bad, If the Inge are not entirely destroyed,
or even If one lung is entirely gone if there is
enough vitality left in the other to heal up, there is
hqpe.
I have seen many persons cured with only one
sound long, live and enjoy lifb to a good old age.
This is what Schenck's Medicines will do to euro
Consunption. They will clean out the stomach,
sweeton and strengthen it, get up a good digeation.
and gIve Nature the assistanoe 6.ie needs to clear
the system of all the disease that is in the lungs,
whatover the fbrm may be.
It is important that while using Schenck's Medl.
eines, care shield be exercised not to take cold*
keep in-doors in old and damp weather' avoid
night air and take out-door exercise only in a
genial and warm sunshine.
I wish it distinctly understood that when I recom.
mend a patient to be careful in regard to taking
cold, while using my Metnes, I de for a special
reason. A man who hI ,but partially recovered
from the efects of a bad cold is fhr more liable to
A reiapse than one who has been entirely cured;
and it is precisely the same in regard to Consumlp
tion. Bo long as the lunigs are not perfectly healed,
jt so long i there Imminent danger of a ill re
turn of the disease. Hence it is that I so strenu
ously caution pulmonary patients againt ex iosing
themselves to an atmosphere that Is not genf'al and
pleasant. Confirmed Consuimptives' lungs are a
mats of sores which the leiest cihange of atmos
phere will inhfame. The grand secret of ny sue
cens with my Medicines consists in my ability to
subdne inflammation instead of provoking it, as
many of the faculty do. An Iilnamed lung cantnot,
with safety to the patient, be exposed to the l itcing
blasts (of vinter or the chilling windis w Spriog
or Autumn. It ahould be carehilly shle'lded r'rutn
all irritating Nfltnences. The ultInnst ciution
should be olaerved in this particular, it without it
a cure under almost any circumstances Is anl impos.
sibility.
The person should be kept on a wholesome and
nutritions diet, and ll tle Medicines contillned
until the body has restored to it, the natural quantity
of 1lasl and strength.
I wai myself cured by this treatment of the worst
kind of Coltsnenption, and have lived to get fat and
hearty thse many years, with one lung mostly
gone. I have cured thousands since, and very
many have been cured by this treatment wiom I
have never seen.
About the Firstof October I expect to take posses
slon of my new building, at the Norteast Coitner of
Sixth and Arch Streets, where I shall be pleased to
give advice to all who snay require it.
Full directions accompy all my Remedies, so
that a person in an . rt of the world can be
readily cured by a str ot observance of the same.
