ff HE following Ordnance, entitled an Ord
nance to raise supplies for the year
commencing the 1st of April 1870. and end
ing the lt of April 1871, and fot other pur.
poses. passed the 24th day of June 1870, is
published for the Information of all con
corned:
I. He It enacted and ordained by the
Intend.tnt and Wardens of the Town of
Winnsboro, 8. C., in Council met. that a
'ax for the sanms and in the manner herein
after mentioned, shall be rnised and paid
into the Treasury of the said Town. for the
use and service thereof ; that, is to say,
fifteen cents ad valorem on every hundred
dollars worth of the value of all real esta-e
within the corporate limits, to be assessed
as heretofore : three dollars to be paid by
every male inhabitant of said Town, be
tween the ages of eighteen and fifty years.
In lieu of working upon the stryets of snid
Town, and three per cent upon the amount
of all saleq at auction.
II. And be it further enacted and ordain
ed, that the foregoing Taxes shall be paid
to the Treasurer of the Town Council of
Winusb-ro, on or bet'ore the first day of
August next, and in default of such pay.
ment, an exection shall he issued for the
collection of the same.
Ill. And be it, iurther enacted and or
dained, that it shall not be lawful for any
person to represent publicly for gain or re
ward any play, comedly, tragedy, Interludo
or farce. or exhuibit wax figure.'. or show,
or entertainmen. of any kind whatsoever,
without first obtaining a license from the
Town Cotun-11, which license may bs grant
ed upon (lie payment of fiye dollars for all
exhiiionis oilier than those under canvass,
and fifty dollars for all oircns companies;
and niny person violating th.e provisions of
this ordnance shall he fined fifty dlollars for
each and every offense.
IV. And be It further enacted and or
dained, that it. shall not be lawful for any
person to sell intoxicating liqtuors ini
amotunts of less than thiree gallons, or in
any amount to be drunk wholly or in part
at the plae where sold, anywhere within
one mile of te Court hlouse of said Town,
without first obtainIng a licensoe therefor,
from the Clerk of the Concil, which may
be granted upon the paymecnt, of sixty dol
lars', for what is known as '-Retail r.ie?ense,"
and one hutndred and twenty five for what;.
