The following exquisitely beautiful gem of
the intellect, declares for Itself, that it is
the off-spring of a master mind. It is the
production of none other thin Nature's
0hild, who has been called-"Tm RARE
Uniq Joisox"-the rival of Shakspeare
in the British Drama, if, indeed, Shak.
speare has any rival. The only reason that
has ever been assigned for his dropping a
letter from his name, is, that he wished to
be different from all the other Johnson's.
lie seems to have been a student of Oxford
University, then a brick-layer il London,.
then a private soldier in Fi,iuders, and final.

SONG.
Drink to me only with thine eyet,
And I will pledge with mine;
Or leave a kiss but in the cup,
And I'll not look for wine.
The thirst thut from the soul doth tise,
Doth ask a drink divine:
But might I of Love's nectar sup,
I would but change for thine.
I sent thee, late, a rosy wreath,
Not so much honoring thee,
As giving it a hope that there
It could not withered be.
But thou, thereon, did'st only breathe,
And sent it back to me:
Since when it grows, and smells, I swear,
Not of itself, but thee.
