Ussery, State constable, and as sistants discpvered two stills about three milos west pf hare Friday on the place of a white man named-Cadle. Neither of tlie atills were in operation, but a quantity of sprouted corn and mash was destroyed. The stills were of up to date make and fit ted Up to make real whiskey. No arrest 'was made but the officers say they have evidence sufficient and thqt an arrest will follow. The asparagus season is on in full and from one to three cars are ljcing loaded here dai ly. Buyers are here from a number of Northern markets and the price is considered good by the growers. Mike A. Smith, of Batesburg, was here yesterday and closed a deal with Dr. Wallis Cone for bi9 farm' near town, consisting of 109 acres, for .$11,000, posses sion to be given the first of next year.
