When we read of food control
lers and bread cards in Europe
in the earlier days of,-the war,
we wondered just how it walked.
Somehow it. must have been' a
wise tiling or they would never
have been adopted. A fter we en
tered the war. we were told of an
impending food shortage during
last year. The result of the food
campaign was the saving of mil
lions of dollars in home canned
goods that otherwise would have
been wasted. Larger crops of
cereals were planted and liar-

was to he won by the American
farmer, as Well as by the Amer
ican armies. The one essential
contribution from' us was food
for our allies in the shape of
wheat and meats. We .heartily
accept the conditions that re
quire food regulation, because

feel the pinch until it raised
enough to feed its people, it
would save us millions of dollars
