so known as the cow pea curculio. You
are in the belt where they make their
annual vi*it every spring in destruct
ive numbers. Ordinarily they come ]

which time they may seriously affect
the stand in some plaoes. The reports
so far this spring indicate a very severe
season.
They are so called because they pre-
'fer the oow peas to any other plant
and where volunteer erfw peas appear
among cotton the latter is rarely ser-

His address was well received and
punctuated with rouudR of applause.
Mr Simms then, in very eulogistic
language, introduced. Senator Johnston
who spoke for about an hour and held
the closest attention of his audience.
Senator Johnston measured, up to his
reputation as a man of deep thought

it well. He spoke of the ruthless de-
