An Orangeburg correspondent, in
another column ef this morning's News
and Courier, complains of the want of a
suitable, Railroad Depot at that place.
We are authorized to state in this oon
nection that the officers of the South
Carolina Railroad, Company fully appre
ciate the necessity for a depot at that
place, and are using their heat endeavors
to supply, it. Not only has the contract
been given out, but a large portion of
the material has been prepared at the
shops of the company iu this city, and
the good people of Orangeburg will soon
have the satisfaction of sooing a hand
acme and commodious Railroad Depot
erected in their town. Let us have

At Staunton,' Pa., on Friday la?t,
Theodora Marone, a workman iu the
Laekuwauna Iron and Coal Company'?
foundry, committed sucidc by pi uugi irg
into a seething furnace, which at tha
time was at a v. hiie heat. His cries
attracted the attention of one of the
Workmen, who, together with his
companions, ran to the furnace und
looked down, only to see Marone gyrat
ing auiid the liquid fire, aud waving Iii?
hands and feet in tho most, intense
agony. A long handed shovel was
lowered to him, but he was unconscious
of its presence. One ol'the men stop
ped the blast but human aid was of no
avail to Bave tho unfortunate man, and
he was dragged upas quickly as possible,
by means of a large hook, a charred,
disfigured aud unrecognizable tuass.

Pride, the corporation hand of tweuty
five yeara, who| was drownod on Thurs
day, obtainod the first divorce of any
colored man in Georgia, shortly after ho
married. The children by his first and
second wivea are now quarrelling over
the little property he had.
In St. Louis everybody is considerate,
and, therefore, a daily paper remarks:
