from which mankind suffer over a large part of
the globe, is the consequence of a diseased notion
in the system, induced by the poisonous miasm of
vegetable decay. This exhalation is evolved by
the action, of solar licit oa wef soil, and rises with
the watery vapor from it. Whllo the sun is below

face, and tho virus is taken with it through tho
lungs into the blood. . There it nets as an irritating
poison on the internal viscera and excreting organs
of the body. The liver becomes torpid ana fails to
secrete not only this virus, but also the bile from
the blood. Both the virus and the bile accumulate
in the circulation, and produce violent constitu
tional disorder. The spleen, the kidneys, and tha
stomach sympathize with tho liver, aiid becoma
disordered also. Finally, the instinct of our or
ganism, as if in an attempt to expel the noxious
infusion, concentrates the whole blood of the body
ia the internal excrotorics to force thorn to cast it
out. Tho blood leaves tho surface, and rushes to
the central organs with congestive violence. This
ia tho Chili.. But in this effort it fails. Then tho
Fkvbr follows, in which the blood leaves tho cen
tral- orgar.s rind rushes to tho surface, as if in
another effort to expel the irritating poison through
that other great excretory ? the skin. In Una
also it foils, and tbc system abandons the attempt
exhausted, and waits for the rooovory of strength

Such constitutional disorder will of course under
mine the health if it is Hot removed.
