Not long since, io travelling from

each shelf a dish. The first was a hot

fourth half a chicken nnd salad. A
bunch of delicious grapes was also found
on one of the shelves.
We ate our diuues %aa?tly and com
fortably, while the train rushod along
at thirty miles as hour, und than re

the next stoppage %was made, n perter
removed the ba.-ket and- received the
pay. We 'roached Paris after s twelve
hour-V ride, weary and hungry, but
noither faint with exhaustion, uor suf
fering from a fit ot indigestion.
Recently it became necessary for us
to make a shorter journey in this o >un
try. About midway the train stopped,
and the conductor shouted 'Ten minutes
for refreshments '.' The passengers rush
ed, forth and crowded into the close,
