mixed, add four ounces of water. fake
a spoonful every "hour. Kither dir case
will disappear in twelve hours. lorn

The Chelsea (jl/Ittss,) Public says four
or five oasoo of the disease have been
cured by the above remedy in that towu,
to the editor's personal knowledge.

acre, from which ho expects to gather at

lar a seed, and some of the seed growing
on the same stalks from which the oi-'ht

fire locks to the hull, will be sold . for
eeventy five cents a seed. These ladt
will produce eight look bolls, but not in
tho same ratio as tha genuine eight

Curing Hams.
TTie following is a good recipe I n
curing hams :
Two aud a balf pounds saltpetre, dried
ami finely powdered balf bushel bet
Liverpool salt, three pounds brown sugar
and a half gallon molasses. Mix all in
a vessel, rub the meat well with same,
and pack with skin down.
Tho above is tho exact amount re
quired for 1.000 lbs. of pork. Alter Bo
ing in salt three or four weeks, take out.
wash (lean the pioecs, dry and hang it
up f* r smoking. Three weeks is sufii
cient to smoke them thoroughly by lire
mado of hickory woud.
When smoked, take d >wn and havt or
pack away in dry chaff or cut straw
Examine, them occasion illy, aud if
found to be at all damp, renew the pack
ing with dry material.
Tho heaviest corn crop ever grown in
the United States was that of lust year,
which the Agricultural Report states at
the hugn total of 1,100,000,000 bushels.
?Not only ii this the large-it crop, but it,
is said to be coru of better quality and
of greater intrinsic value than usual.
Iowa was the banner corn growing State,
her avcrago being nearly forty one
bushels an acre. Unfortunately for
some of those who would like to have
the Iowa coru, it takes the price of four
bushels of said corn to get one bushel to
iWp Atlantic markets. This is one of
jthe resAOus why some people are demand
ing cheaper transposition bctwecu the
West and the East.
