moment. His Honor is tho son of the
late Rer. John P. Cook, who came to
this State from Pennsylvania in the year
181B, and settled in Fairffeld District,
where he shortly afterwards married
Miss Anna Pullig. Jmlge Cooke was
bor? in tli's Stute in July, 1832. In
January, 1848, he ehtered the State
I Military ^Academy and graduated at the
Citadel in Charleston aonie time in the
your, 1831. For aereral years after

young idea how to shoot, aud was re

teacher. In 1858 Judge Couko was
udmitted to the bar and entered upon
the practice of law in Orangeburg coun

Couko embraced the new faith, and has
been a constant and unflinching Republi
