of Conductor Drury. Nothing^traospir
ed to disturb the monotony of the con
ductors cull for tickets until the train
was between Dennison and Stuobenville
Then he was notified that a lady passen
ger desired his presence. He found the
lady evidently in some trouble and em
barrassment. To his affirmative response
to the query whethor he was married,
the lady stated that she was on her way
from Cincinnati to meet her husband in
New York, and that a crisis was impen
dug. involving the appearance of an ad
ditional passenger. This startled the
conduotor, of course, but with a heart
bit/ as an elephant, he sat to trork to
niiike the lady comfortable. All the
