cause an election to be held in your respec
tive Counties on the first Tuesday following
the first Monday of November next, beiug
the nth dny of the month nforcsaid, for
seven (7) persons as Electors of President
and V ice-President ef the United States.
Now, therefore, you and each of you arc
hereby required with strict regard to the
provisions of the Constitution ami laws of
this State, tout. ><tg your duty in sucn case,
to cause such Eler'ion to be held in your re
spective Counties on the day aforesaid, aud
?or the ascertaining and determining the
persons who shall have been duly elected
thereat.
All bar-rooms and drinking saloons shall
be closed on the dny of Election, and any
person who shall sell any intoxicatiog
drinks on that dny, shull bo guilty of a mis
demeanor, nnd on conviction thereof, shall
be fined in a sum not less than one hundred
dollars, or bo imprisoned for a period not
less than one mouth, nor more than six

ng the same, amended by an net approved
.March 12, 1872, hit election will be held in
the County of Orangehurg ut the usual
Polling precincts mentioued below, on the
bth day of November, lor seten Presidential
Electors.
All bar-rooma and drinking saloons shall
be closed on the day of election, and any
per-on who shall sell any intoxicating drinks
on ll.c day ol elect loll, shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor, and on conviction thereof,
.shall he fined in a sum nut less than one
hundred dollars, or be imprisoned not less
than one mouth, nor more than six months.
The managers of Election at each Pre
cinct will be furnished wi? a box which
shall bo publicly opened and inspected, to
sec that it is empty and Bccurc, and then
locked, just bet?re the opening of the Polls.

the box than there are names on the poll
list, all the ballot < shnll be returned to the
box, and thoroughly mixed together, and
one of the Managers or Ihc Clerk shall nith
out seeing the ballots, draw therefrom and
immediately destroy aamany ballotsas there
are in excess of (he number of names on
the poll-list.
Within three (lows thereafter the Chair
mar, or one of the managers to be designa
ted in writing by the Board, shall deliver to
the Commissioners of Election the poll-list,
the boxes containing the ballots, and written
statement of the result oi the Election in hit
precinct. The Polls shall be opened at
li o'clock in the forenoon and closed at
0 o'clock in the afternoon, on the said day
of Election, and shall be kepi open during
these hours without intermission or adjourn
ment, and the Managers shall administer lo
each person offering lo vole, an oath that
they arc (|italined to vote at this Election
according in the Constitution of this State,
nnd that they have not voted during this
Election.
