purchaser. There is no way out but to

the mercy of the Stute or of the pur

talk among the members of the Orange
burg bar, as to the irregularity of the
?admission of Sasportas and Humbert, to
' practice. The law requires tho exami
I nation of the. applicant by three mem
1 bers of the bor, and in these casus, only

pointed to conduet the examination of
eaoh of the above mentioned applicants.
Messrs. Sasportas and Humbert were
examined in open court as the law re- I
quires. Oue of Mr. Humbert's examin
ers was absent?those of ?Mr. Sasportus
wero all present. Judge Graham or
dered the examination to proceed. Tho
candidates were oaeh dul examined by
two of tile examiners, whereupon his
Honor, satisfied already with the profi
ciency shown by the candidates, stopped
the examination and made the usual
order admitting them to the bar.
We are inclined to think that the
color of the new lawyers is the l'?rreg?i
larity" that causes the most deseu eiou

Saturday.?The meeting was organized
by the election of Mr. Adam C. Wil
liams as permanent Chairman, and Mr
John L. Humbert as Secretary. Mr
A. B. Knowltmi being called upon for
an address urged emphatically the great
necessity of a rclorin in the State and
County administration and of a more
geucral distribution of schools through
out the County. Mr. James J. Mitch
oil followed with a speech wherein he
announced himself as a candid ite Tor the
General Assembly, and pitched into
some of the bystanding politicians in
a lively und amusiug style. Mr. Jami
son, preseut member of Assembly, was
then called upon. He- rep'ied very
humorously to a point or two that had
been made against him by the preced
ing speaker aud uusw-rud promptly the
questions that were put to him by bis
tival a.-pirauts for office.
Dr. John A. Keiler then took
stand and o fie led a resolution that the
State and County officers be called ou to
show what amounts of money they had
received and to whom such monies had
been paid. Mr. Jamison moved that
the resolution be tabled ou the ground
that statements us culled for had already
been published, and tho mo.ion was
curried. Sheriff Kiggs, Messrs. John
L. Humbert, Christian Caldwell aud
others also addressed the meeting, the
predomiuuut tone of which indicated an
earnest desire for better times and things,
politically, than wo have been accustomed
to for some years buck.
