The following is a correct statoment of
Cotton l-aisei by Stevons & Cureton, on 1^
acres of atubhic land, which wan manured
with 400 pounds of Carolina Fertilizer. The .
following is lit.- mode of cultivation: It was
thoroughly broken up l*j inches deep, and
laid off in rows 3} feetx*wide, and the Fer
tilizer applied in the drill, then bedded on
it on the 15th of May, and planted tho same
day", but owing to the coal ahtt dry weather,
did not come up to a stand until about tha

trimmed out with a hoc. Second working
it was run around with a 3 inch grab, la

with a sweep 18 inches wide, and hoed each
time, until it wns worked five times.
