The following is a correct statement of
Cotton raited by Stevens & Cureton, on ljr
acres of stubble land, which was manured
with -100 pouuds of Carolina Fertilizer. The
following is the uiodo of cultivation: It was
thoroughly broken up 12 inches deep, and
laid off in rows .1^ feet wide, and the Fer
tilizer applied in the drill, then bedded on
it on the l?lh of May, and planted the same
day, but ?-?'.ri^g Je :hc co^I und dry weather,
did not come up to a stand until.about tho
1st of June. First working it was run

,i-mimed out with a hoc. Second working

row and thinned to a stand with a hoe about
