The following is a correct statement of
Cotton raisc l by Stevens & Cureton. on 1^
acre of stubble land, which was manured
with lot) pounds of Carolina Fertilizer. The
following t* the nipda of cultivation : It was
thoroughly brokon up 12 inches deep, and
laid off in rows 8] feet wide, ami the Fer
tilizer applied in tho drill, then bedded on
it on the l?th of May, and planted the same
day, but owing to tho cool and dry weather,
did not conic up to a stand until.about tho
1st of Juno. First working it waa run

trimmed out with a boo. Second working
it was run around with a 3 inch grub, 12
inches long! and the middles thrown out with
a sweep 18 inches wide. One furrow to a
i ow and thinned to a stand with a hoe about

with a sweeji 18 inc'.cs wide, and hoed each
tune, until it was worked five times.
