The presentment of the Grand Jury
at tho January term, 1872, appears in
this issue, of tho NEWS. It is very brief
and should bo read by the citi/.eus of
the county.
It is simple justice to Mr. Jwncs Vau
Tassell, the County Auditor, to say that
his prcdoeessor 3Ir. Dull left mauy mis
takes on tho books of Jhis office, without
being nblo to review and correct the 1
same before lie vacated the office, which
errors in figures, names, valuations and
localities, Mr. Van Tassoll since his re
instatement as Auditor has been indus
triously engaged in correcting. He, of
oourso, has uot beon ablo to complete,
the review and correction of his books
before tho timo for tho collection of the
tax.
In each and every caso prc-cntcl to
him for correction, Mr. Van Tassoll has
exhibited tho utmost courtesy and in
dustry in lookiug into and fixing them.
That this is true many of our best citi
zens have cortiGed to, and it is just to
Mr. Van Taseell that this should be
stated bore publicly.
