Fire at Rowe's Pump.?Ou Th?rs-' tiny morning of last week, (Docomber 14th), before day, tho grist-mill cud cotton gin, of Mr. William Wolfe, at Howes Pump, were completely destroy, ed by fire. 1 he rail road tank, adjoin ing, was also entirely consumed. Several bales of ootton, ginned aud unginned, were burnt. The loss is estimated at 91500. Whether it wns the act of an incendiary or an accident has not been ascertained. A. F. A Horrible Murder at Hamp ton's Turn Out.?Our Columbir ex changes report that a Coroner's inquest was held on Tuesday, the 19th instant, at Hampton's Turn Out, on the liuo of the South Carolina Rail Road, over the body of Patrick Murphy, the pump ten der at that place. But oue wi'ncss was examined, who found him on Monday morning ubout 7 o'clock, brutally mur dered, lying out of doors, at the back of the house occupied by him. The verdict of the jury wns "that the de ceased, Patrick Murphy, was killed and murdered by sonio person or persons to tho jurois unknown." Tho Union says : Tho above case is one of the moat hm??' .~l_ , committed in any community. After tho murder the house was set on fire, but, for some cause, tho fire was put out. It also appears that the struggle wus a desperate one, for blood was traced up tho rail road for sixty yards, supposed to bo from a wound inflicted by tho de ceased on his murderer with a hatchet, which was found in the house. The deceased was beaten to death with a club cut and prepared for the purpose.
