Bal den, have been convicted and after a most solemn and impressive charge by his Honor Judge Graham, sentenced to be hang on the 2d of February 1872. The people of this State, Republicans no less thun Democrats, are watching the action of the present Legislature. The Republi can press of the North demand, as we do, of tho Legislature Investigation I Tbi.s is the work before them. This is i the work the (people ask them to do. Moses, Jn.^-One at tending the session of the Legislature is struck by the ability, case, and business tact of tho speaker of the House, Hon. F. J. Moses, Jr. In pre siding over that body, composed of a conflicting and at timed turbulent mem bership. The mind is involuntarily im prcsseu . ..it the thought that Mr. Mo- < scs is finely fitted for his post, and that it would bo difficult to lind a substitute, possessed of his talent for the position. Mr. Moses wields an influence over the general couduct of the Houso which at times is put to its tension, but which would be sadly missed, if ,ho were ab sent. Wielding a fluent and able pen, and au eloquent orator, Mr. Moses is certainly one of tho powers in his party j in this State, who aro feit, and upon whom rests, to a groat degroo the re sponsibility of it- history. Som KTUi no Worth Skeino.?A visit to the magnificent fowl yard of Mr. Thos. W. Albcrgotti of Orangeburg, is worth the time of any ono. The fin est collection of pigeons, fowls, geese, &c., that we ever saw, are on exhibition in his yard. A day or so ago we dropp ed in, and to givo our readers an idea of the eztcut and variety of things to be seen there, let us state that in the. first department we eutered, were two beau tiful buff llruhuia cocks, otic of which I although ouly seven mouths old, we thought larger thuu muuy whose life is in the "sere stud yollow leaf." The scc oud department is filled with purtridge Cochins, the cock ot which variety weighs 18 lbs. There are five or six more yards occupied respectively by dark Brahmas, white Brahmas, &c< Mr. Alber-jjotti has one cock, brothor to the one that took the premium at the Fair, that is said to bo the finest in the State. In a large yard Mr. A. has a collec tion of snow white ducks, West India geese, and other fowls The last place we visited was a very large pigeon house which wo found filled with pigeons of the rarest kinds consisting of black aud white fan tails, carriers, red rou ji turbits, swallows, irch aiifc_el (only pair in South Carolina) almond bluck tumblers, uelltf, white roughs, pouters (these latter retuiuded us of some young ladies we know,) etc. Upon the whole, the expeuso that Mr. Albcrgotti must have goue tu iu order to collect such u rare ciuaudy of Bue birds together, is a matter of won der. No other county we'll wan ant, can boast of any such advantage. Those who uro loud of birds ^andwho are not , we ail vine to call aud request Mr. A. to show them around. lie assures us he will do so with ploasure. P. S. Any of the above mentioned fowls, pigeons.
