Ministers arc becoming discouraged
by thct?o evidences of the seeming lack
of Christianity in our f;idst. If they

quently we have thought that the man

those who want to do right, that such
individuals hnd never come among them ?

One glaring truth is that religion i?
getting too fashionable now-n-duys, to
do much good. When wc use the term
"fnshionablo," wc mean it in this sense. I
Wc mean that it is made to couform to
the views nntl tastes of all the various
factions of society, instead of these fac
tions conforming to it. Thcrclorp it
bus become a thing of fashiou, a usoful
adjunct of society, not in making it any
better, hut as a convenience to he used
at little cost. Por instance: if a young
man visits a town, and desires to become
a member of this particular branch of
j society, he straightway inquires which
Church would it behest for him to at
tend in order to ingratiate himst f into
the good graces of tho leaders of Faid
branch. He is informed, and is heucc
forward an undeviating attendant at that
Church, but never one time inquire*wheth
er the doctrine preached there is right.
