An Outrageous Murder!

We learn from a reliable source in
telligence afl to a horrible murder which
was committed, on Tuesday night last,
upon tho plantation of Trial Justice
W. L. \V. Rtley. Tho victim w.ts
a colored man, named John Perry.
The potf ctratois t.,e unknown. The
facts are these: On Tuesday night
last about 12 o'clock, four white men
visited the place of Mr. Riley. They first
went to the house of I^cub.in Jumison, ti

of eouiso obeyed the command of the
midnight assassins. Just as they
neared tho house of thu deceased, ho,
iu the meantime, getting tho alarm, ran
out of the back door. Before he got
far frenn his house, he received two or
three loads of buck shot in his back j
which killed him icstaatly. Trial Jus
tice Riley summoned a'Jury of Inquest,
und a verdict was rendered in accor
dauoo with tho facts. What caused these
assassins to thus murder a respectable,
and iimffeueivc citizen, we forbear to
conjecture until wo receive further
intelligence. Our informants tell U&
that Perry was an industrious nod hard
' working man, und never did any one
\ an injury. Is hot this a crime which
appeals to Justico to-offer'a- reward tor
the criminals ?' They n ro etill at large
and we call upon Gov. Scott to offer a
reward for their capture.
