tlons as shall be deemed proper by them
not ii conflict with tho constitution or
laws of this State, or the United States.
3. The capital stock of sa?d
company shall be two hundred thousand
dollars, with the right to increase tho
same by a vote of a majority of the
stockholders to auy sum not exceeding
five hundred thousand dollars; that said
company shall commence business as
soon as its capital stock is fully subscrib
ed, and filty thousand dollars of the
same paid up, which may be paid cither
in money or real estate, the same to be i
- divided into such number of shares, nod
at so much per share, as said corpora
tion may determine, said shares to be
assignable and negotiable under such
rules as said corporation may prescribe.

meetings of the stockholders, at such
time and place as they may designate,

above directed with respect to the value
of land.
Sec. 12. That this act shall bo deemed
and taken to be a public net, judicially
taken notice of as such, without special
pleading, and liberally construed for
carriying tbe purposes aforesaid into
effect, for the term of thirty-five year?,
and to the Bitting of the uoxt geuoral
i assembly thereafter.

Catawba River, near the late John S.
JPerry'e Mill, and /or other p rposes. ,
Section 1. Be it enacted by tho Sen
ate and House of Representatives of li e
State of South Carolina, now met end
sitting in General Assembly, and by tho
authority of tbe samo, That a ferry
over Catawba river, at a. plaoo where n
lerry was formerly operated by Johnson
and Perry, aud about two hundred yart's
from tho Uis John & Perry's Mill, bo
chartered and vested in Samuel McAli!
lcy, his heirs and assigns, who shall be
allowed tho following rates of toll, to
wit: For a person on horseback, tcu
cents; for a one horse team, fifteen couts;
two horse team, twenty-five ocuts ; three
horse team, thirty live cents; aud four
horse teams, fifty ccuts ; ox loams, same
as horse teams; foot passengers, five
I cents ; loose horses and mules, five cents
'each; cattle, three, cents; and bogs,
sheep aud goats, two cents each!
Sec. 2. That this charter shall rema n
in foroe for the term of fourteen years :
Provided, That children going to and
returning from school, and voters going
to and returning from their polling pro- I
cioct on election days, shall bo exempt
from paying ioll at the said ferry.
Stc. 3. And be it further enacted, by
tho authoiity aforesaid, That the ccuu'y
commissioners of Fairfield county do lay
out, or cause to bo laid out, made ami
kept in repair, iu as direct a course as
oonveuicutly may be, u road from tho
"River Road," crossing the Wateroc
creek at Perry's Old Mill, to said lorry,
on the line of road formerly used to said
ferry.
Sec. 4. And be it further ouactcd, by
the authority aforesaid, That the county
Commissioners of Lancaster county do
lny out, make and keep in repair, in us
direct a course as conveniently may be,
u public road from said ferry, to the road
leading to Liberty Hill and. Gum 1. n,
aud that the same declared Ja public
highway, -with permission to those over
whose laud said road may pass to erect
gates across the same.

the Staterut and to Certain, Escheated
"Property in a Certain Person Therein
Named.
Sectios 1. Be it enacted by the Sen
ate aud House of Roprotsjjutatives of the
Stato of South Carolina, now met and
sitting iu General Assemby, aud by the
authority of the same. That all the
right, title and interest which the State
may hare in a certain tract of land, con
taining two hundred acres, moro or le;s
situate and lying in Marlboro county,
lately held by John Res*, deceased, be,
and the xame is hereby, vested in John
Wethcrspoou, executor of the lift will
and testament of the said John Ross, in
trust, to dispose of tho said property,
and to distr.ibu'e the ptoeccds arising
therefrom under the provisions of suid
will.

letter of resignation of his office, aud the
said office, and tbo said office has re
mained vacant from and aller March.
1870; and whereas, notwithstanding due
proclamation was cot made previous to
tho late general election, that a vacancy
existed in the said office of coroner in
said county, the pooplo did proceed to
vote for coroner, aud Ridley K. Carltou
was afterwnrds declared by the board of
cyunty canvassers to have received the
highest, number of votes for coroner of
said oouuty;
