The duet "What are tho wild waves
saying?" was snug with great beauty by
Dr. Tabor and Mrs. Knowlton,
Mr. Henry Kohu brought down the
houso by hia comic long "Listen the baby
is crying 1" The amatuer musical tal
ent displayed, will become a marked fea
ture ia our midst, and Mr. Kohn is cer
tainly a "low comedian," of high rank.
Mrs. Knowlton sang "Sweet spirit,
hear my prayer," with such peculiar pa
thos as to lend to her being called out
again, when she sang "Fire o'clock in
the morning," with a graudour of ex
pressive style that would have done
honor to ? "professional.".
Tho "anvil chorus" from "IlTrovatoro"
was rendered with added lustre by the
prcsonoa and ringing sound of a real
anvil, which gave a tone- to its ex pros
sivo effect.
The whole Concert was a brill ?an* snc
cess, both as to performance and andi
ence.Tho latter in its size and apprecia
tion did honor to the occasion; and they
were amply repaid for at tendance
We would take a genuine ploasuro in
speaking farther of this delightful ovo
but our lack of space forbids it.

A Suggestion.?Why is it that our
citizens may not organize clubs, for the
purchase of tickets in the great Land
and Immigration ec'herac of Messrs. But
ler, Chadwick & Gary, the drawing of
which takes place in October next. A
club of ten for iustance would
purohasc ten tickets, and tho holder of
one of tho ton, would be entitled to a
proportionate share of all the prizes that
might bo druwn. Thu.?, twenty-five dol
lars invested in five clubs of ten persons
each, would secure to each person fifty
chances to win a prize insteud of five
chances, or iu the proportion of ten to
one. The grand idea is to win some
thing, and that which diminishes risk
will of course bo tho most popular
scheine. If our ludios especially will
undertake the formation of these Clubs
among their friends and neighbors, goot
luck will be sure to lock iu on some of
them.

ami all were found adulterated with noxious
substance. It is said, that the sale of Drugs
to Brewers, is a profitable part of tlia trade.
This' is perfectly infamous Cocculus iudicus
(fish berry) nux-Vomica. (dog button) from
which strychnine is obtained, uro somo of
the delectable substances found in Reer!
These are potent poisons, and the Brewer
found uaing them should bo drowned at onoo
in one of his own vats.
