Tiik Absence of editorial and local

Court.?-As' was published in the
Orangeburg New?, a special term of the
Court of 0eneral Sessions commenced on
Tuesday morning the 21st instant. His
honor Robert F. Graham, the presiding;
Judge is looking well, having recovered
from his severe illness, tie has already
givon satisfaction to the bar and has
proTcd himself fully fitted for the dis
charge of the responsibility of the high
position to which he Ins been called.
He has occupied the w?ck in disposing
of lh? criminal crises on the calendar,
which has increased to a very "long roll"
owing to the length of time since we
hivo had a "gaol do ivcry." Tho cases
woro chiefly unimportant, with the ex
vrptiou ol* ll;c *---" of the State vs.
Irviu J. Porter for murder. While "wc
go to press this case is being tried. The
able Solicitor, Mr. E. B. Seabrook, is
prosecuting for the State, and Knowlton
& Bull Esqs., for the defunce. This is
one of the most interesting cases that
has ever been tried in Ornngeburg. It
ia the absorbing theme of conversation
and .speculation, as to its probable result,
