one acre <>f ground, two thousand and
fire hundred pounds seed cotton." We
believed, and so eiprcssod ourselves,
that there could not be another iustauce
of the kind in the County. Rut we
?were mistaken. Qlad of it. Our friend
J. W. II. Dukes, the never-tiring and
?nergetie farmer that he is, assure us
that from one-eighth of an acre, he gath
ered 436 pounds, at which rote an acre
would produce 3,480 pounds making
three decent bales, of cotton.
Verily this places Oraugcburg, in the
way ef cotton planting, foremost in the
State.
Do so again, Mr. Dukes. You can
find no rival. The palm is yours.
Hun. J. R. Graham wn*elected Judge
of the First Circuit, on last week. He

address, and wc predict, will give satis*
faction to all our people.

made in Orangeburg County. Mesara.
D*tyle, Wiles & Co., have already made
a tremendous outlay; and it was made
with an eye solely to tbe socommodation
of the people of our County. Shall they
go unrewarded? Shall energy, like
theirs, meet with no encouragement!
In short, shall one week pas* by, before

is shown, in the way of ordure I or bug
gies Ac., that will suggest greater im
provements to thorn ?
