that from one-eighth of an acre, he gath
ered 436 pounds, tit which rate an acre
would produce 3,4S0 pounds making
three decent bales of aotton.
Verily this places Orangeburg, in the
way of cotton planting, foremost in the
State.

liahment in the interior of the State.
This argues well for the enterprise ex
hibited, and the progress that is being
taade in Orangeburg County. Messrs.
D*yle, Wiles A Co., have already made
a tremendous outlay; and it was made
with an eye solely to the accommodation
of the people of our County. Shall they
?ju unrewarded? Shall energy, like
theirs, meet with no encouragement!
In short, shall one week puss by, before
snoh an appreciation of their enterprise
