has been progressing at the Uapti.st

A Touching Buene.?Ou Friday af
ternoon of tho 9th inst., at the Baptist
Church, was enacted a ;;c;.'iiC whoso so't
and touching beauty has not yet passed
from our memory. It was tho funeral of
little Robert II. Wiles, eldest sou of our
fellow townsmnu Mr. Robt. 11. Wiles.
A procession of his school-mates, the
pupils of Miss Albergotti, followed the
Siof Of their little comrade from his
father's residence to the Church, aud
eaoh one of the little mourners bore a
wreath of living flowers, twined by their
o.vn little hands to deck his grave.
After tbe funeral services, including
a solemn und impressive address by the
Rev. Dr. Durham, were concluded, the
remain* of tbe little fellow were carried
to the grave appointed lor them, and in
t jrred in solemn silence, the group of
fair and happy children standing arouud
in soft and silent sorrow, their bright
eyes downcast, as tlmy gazed upon a
scene so new, so sad to them.
When his grave had been filled up,

bviglit children cainc and ttrewed their
wreaths changing its earthy profile into
a mound of fragrant and beauteous Uow
ers. Bright happy 11 rwers, their expn h
sinn is rill love and beauty. That mound
wreathed with nature's beauteous offer
ings, placed there by childhood's tiny
hands, spoke a message of fragrant, aud
thrilling hope to those who mourned
their little orte. They wrote the epitaph
of their loved and lost: "Jicstirgam ! I
will arise."

"The Lord had need of that floweret
gay, he is transplanted to the genial air
of Heaven."

and immortal, aud the little ones will be

Wo learni from a gentleman from
Bamberg that on Monday last, tbo resi
dence of the Bov. Mr. Wilson in that
place, was consumed by fire. The build
ing was the property of the Methodist
Church,'and was-totally destroyed.
The conduct of the Bamberg Fire
Company is spoken of in the highest
terms. Thoir prompt repairing to the
scene, aud energy displayed in their ef
fort to save the property of the neigh
bors, is represented as being worthy of all
praise. In their efforts to extinguish,
they certainly distinguished themselves.
