"We have eoveral times taken occasion to speak of this oombinatiou. as far as our inforination in regard to it would war* raut. It spoke eloquently for itself in its parade through tho streets yesterday morning, lta street display wai as grat ifying to public curiosity as its afternoon and evening exhibitions. Col Amos eould not be identified with au inferior establishment ; his presont eonccru is full of solid and valuable material, ilia circus performances were most accepta bly rendered and graciously received by the hundreds who thronged the canvass. His cqucstricncs arc excellent; M'lle Eugenie performs wonderful fents with the lions; in fact, the etitire performance, is a better exhibition of its kind than we have seen since tho war, and it stands in the front rank of all tho shows. The cullcetiou of wild animals attracted a large amount of attention. The whole entertainment passed off pleasantly and nerceable." Col. Antes has exhibited commenda ble liberality in the cities of Muco?) and Atlanta. In the former city he cordially extended an invitation tu the visiting Oglothorpe andSerivcu Fire Companies, of Savannah, to attend his entertain ment. In the latter city he cheerfully donated the entire proceeds of one per formance to the Confederate Cemetry. ,<1*i.a ^Hlaok it KKis y Wink.?We publish below the following recipe for making lilackbery Wine, and as they are now in season, and will soon be very plentiful, wo would advise all who wish an excel lent and valuable medicine for home use to try tho following recipe taken from tho Southern Planter of 1853: *To make a wine equal in value to Port, t..ke ripe blackberries or dewber ries and press them, let the juice stand thirty-six hours to ferment, skim oil whatever rises to the top, then, to every ralloh of the juice, add u quart of water aud three pounds of sugar, (brown sugar will do) let this stand iu open vessels for j tweuty-four hours, skim and struiu it, then barrel it until March, when it should be carefully racked off and bot' tied. "Blackberry cordiul is made by adding one pound of white sugnr to three pounds of ripe blackberries, allowing them to stand lor twelve hours, then pressing out the juice, straining it, add ing one-third part of spirit, and putting a teaspoon!ul ul finely powdered allspice in every quart of the cordial, it is at once lit fur use." This wine and cordial are very valua ble medicines in the treatment of weak ness of the stomaeh and bowels, aud are especially valuablo iu the summer com plaints of children. Enrolment of the Militia.?In accordance with orders received from Governor Scott, the Adjutant-General of tie State has instructed the census taker of this county to enroll all the citizens of this couuty between the ages of eigh teen and forty-five years. There are two forms for the enrolment, one embracing alj between eighteeu and thirty years and thd pther those between thirty aud forty-five years. There is to be no ex ception whatever in the enrolment, and all who desire ?xomption are required to apply to the Adjutant-General's ufliec, Columbia. The census taker will begin his duties next week, when he will also take the census. [rou tiir ORAXaenuna nkwh.] Row ks* Pump, .June ii, 1809. Mr. Editor :?In your last issue, in announcing tho result of the late election for Coroner, you wero led into an error, which 1 would like to correct. 1 was not a candidate Ihr Coroner. I express ed a willingness amongst a few friends to run. but hearing that Mr. Trcadwcll was on both the Radien! und Republican ticket, I saw tint fruitlessness of the effort, a few of my friends, however, voted for me anyhow. Yours truly. T. P. STOKES. Dr. Gumniings says our tribulation is coming which was forotold by the pro phot Maggai: "Yet n little while, und I will shake the earth, aud the sea, und tho dry land." We are iu the seventh vial, and "one shock, startling, terrific, and of huge ami Unprecedented propor tions," may be looked for "about this time." The committoo tippuiutcdby the meet ing of the citizens at Orunguburg on lust salesday to proscut their grievuaccs to the Governor of the State would report. That they wero roccived with politeness and listened to with kiudness and a promiso given to relieve the grievances of tho people as far as His Excellency the Governor and State Auditor have it in their power to aet. They state that They have uo authority accordiog to law to order a re-assassmont, but any citizen who will make a showing properly testified to by himself and some good citizen, what the intriusic value of his property really is, it shall bo put at that valuation by tbo Stato Auditor, Hon. R. Toinlinson, to whom all applications should bo ad dressed. It is necessary that this business should be attended to immediately by ouy one wishing to make the application, as tho time for collecting the taxes is at hand. They stuted that the valuation iu Orauge burg was so far below all the other Couu ties of the State that fh justice to those ..thor Counties, Orangeburg had to be raised us uiuch as it was to equalise the leases. r That it was impossible for the State Board to equalise the taxes iu the Coun ties among individuals. That was the business of tho County Board, who should have visited every man's place for that purpose, and if the County Hoard failed to do their duty his Excelleucy ,ud State Auditor say they will correct. l as far us they have the power, and the Governor further says be will recom mend the; Legislature to order another \8Sessmeut next year and he will try to get Assessors who will do their duty.
